I love BMF, everyone gets on well; it is more sociable than a gym, especially when you are giving someone a piggy back!

BMF Sailing Weekend

3 - 5 September 2010

Please Note: Only 8 spaces remaining on our BMF Sailing weekend. Full payment is required to reserve one of these spaces.

Our BMF social weekends away are becoming more and more popular and we can't fit enough of them in the diary! There has been loads of talk for a sailing / water sports type weekend and here it is!

In September we will run our very first BMF Sailing Weekend. We have reserved 30 spaces at the UKSA in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, with the hope of reserving more if we have the interest and sign ups. As with all BMF events, it definitely promises to be a great social weekend.

Everyone is welcome... friends, partners, mates, family, colleagues, associates, buddies, roommates, schoolmates, sidekicks, companions,  BMF members and non-BMF members alike!

Heading down to the island on a Friday evening, we will more then likely go out for some drinks in the evening. On Saturday, we've planned a full day of keel boating tuition (with a lunch break in the middle), and then a keel boating competition / race day type activity for Sunday to show off all the skills you have learnt.

The weekend is designed to be fun, and as with all things BMF, we will create a bit of a competitive atmosphere for the Sunday, but it won't be anything too intense.

The tuition will cater more for the beginners to intermediate levels, however we will most definitely welcome those with a more advanced sailing ability as we would love to have your skills and knowledge as part of the team for the weekend!

The UKSA:

We have reserved 30 beds at the UKSA in Cowes on the Isle of Wight for the weekend. The UKSA (located right on the waterfront in Cowes), was set up as a non profit making organisation and has been the forefront of promoting excellence in maritime training for more than 20 years.

The accommodation is dormitory style in 6 or 8 berth rooms. The area where we will eat most of our meals is also simple but suitable and is set up like a university style cafeteria. They also have a bar with a pool table that gets quite lively, but we might plan a night out in town... we can see what everyone feels like when we're there.

Getting there:

You will need to make your own way to Portsmouth Harbour which is the meet point for this event. UKSA staff will meet us here to transfer us on a Jenny Boat straight in to the dock at the UKSA. You must arrive at Portsmouth Harbour by no later then 18:00 on Friday 3 September. We will send you further information on the exact meet point location at the harbour closer to the time.

On the return trip, we will be dropped back at Portsmouth by Jenny boat no later then 18:30 so your trains / onward travels should be arranged from this time onwards.
