RECENT EVENTS

BMF Christmas Ball - November 08

Our recent BMF London Christmas Ball was a HUGE success. Held in the Fulham Town Hall, the function was black tie and themed a 'Hint of Hollywood'. All 530 guests that attended the evening looked absolutely stunning as they walked down the red carpet to the photo shoot area and in to the main hall. Champagne, popcorn, hotdogs and ice creams were served throughout the night, and everyone danced, drank and got social until the early hours of the morning. The photos are available to view and purchase online - please visit http://www.philoconnor.com/

Look forward to seeing you all for our Valentine's Day function on Saturday 14 February 2009.

"Thank you all for such a great evening. We had a "ball". Nice for me to know so many more people this time I must have been putting in the classes and events! Your organisational ideas were great... Loved the idea of the chill out room upstairs. Very elegant." Rachel - Hyde Park.

"That was a cool party lots of nice little touches with the pop corn, photo booth and bar upstairs. Really impressed with how well is worked and how integrating it was for everyone". Cameron - Hyde Park.

"Just wanted to say thank you for organising such a fab night. We had a real laugh - it was great." - Hilary - Clapham Common.

Kinabalu Challenge - November 08

56 BMFers have just returned from a fantastic Kinabalu Challenge in the jungles of Malaysian Borneo. The hottest bike run ever and the coldest climb up the mountain but all taking part in the Challenge finished with a smile of their face and are itching for more BMF adventure Challenges.

"I just wanted to say thank you for undoubtably the most exciting and eventful week of my life." Sotiris - BMF Cardiff

"Thank you so much for everything you did on the trip, especially putting Team 7 together - the boys were great! The Kinabalu Challenge was absolutely the best thing that I've ever done as well as the hardest, but that's the whole point isn't it? I'd give anything to be back there now doing it all over again. You're a star!" Nikki - Clapham Common

"Thank you again for the Kinabalu Challenge. I had certain expectations of what it might be, but I certainly hadn't expected it to be so well organised and to be as personally rewarding as it turned out to be. It's clear that you and the team invested a huge amount in logistics, planning and organisation to make it all go so smoothly. At each stage we got plenty of food, water, the right equipment, briefings and support. Kit and equipment were virtually managed for us... I think that when the organisation is so precise, you half expect to get a sense of continual frustration from the organisers. For me, I think that's the most striking aspect of how you ran the challenge. That it was run with such good humour, where the all staff were 100% motivated, always helpful and always fun and sociable. Apart from having a great time, I learnt so much about team work and leadership by witnessing how you led this event. Taking part in the challenge has been the most rewarding experience I've had for years... So I just wanted to say thank you for all of this, and to let you know that it really meant much more to many of us than you may have realised." Daniel - BMF Leeds

Military 5k & 10k SCOTLAND - November 08

After a successful March event, we headed back to Scotland on November 1 for a very cold Military 5k and 10k. The event was held in the Pentland Hills just south of Edinburgh at Dreghorn Barracks. The course was wet, muddy and tough and everyone loved it!

"Would highly recommend the 10k to anyone." - Aly, Edinburgh Meadows

"I enjoyed the race and the warm up before it.  I have never been to one of your classes but fancy giving it a go now." - Mark

Military 5k & 10k LONDON - October 08

"Just wanted to drop you a note to say how much fun a group of us from Bushy Park had at the run last weekend. Having not participated in an event such as this, we all went for the 5k and were delighted at how we got on. I guess the weather helped, making the mud and the water more bearable, but we had a great time and have agreed that we will be back in March." - Julia, Bushy Park

"Very enjoyable day harder than i expected .a big thank to your team on the day they cajolled and helped all the way." - Roger

"...it was my first organised run and I thought it a fantastic event. Well done to you and everyone who made it happen!" - Chris, Bushy Park

BMF South Wales Weekend - September 08

Our events team and 42 BMF members are just back from our exciting South Wales Weekend. The weather could not have been more perfect for the weekend, and the surroundings just stunning. We spent a weekend in the Brecon Beacons in a big farm house. Activities including horse riding, high ropes, water activities, orienteering, as well as big BBQs, drinks, and an 80's disco! As always, it was a great social weekend, and a great opportunity to meet BMF members from other parks around the UK.

'Thank you for a fantastic weekend, I really appreciate all your hard work and the detailed organisation behind the scenes. My arms will never be the same again after the high rope activity, which was my favouite of the weekend. I hope to see you all again on future trips.' - Gillian, Brighton

'Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely weekend. Yet again, good organisation, good food, and a lot of fun! You did a fantastic job. Thanks very much.' - Hazel, Hampstead

Three Peaks Challenge - September 08

The BMF 3 Peaks Challenge is to climb the 3 highest peaks in the UK in a 24 hour period (Scotland - Ben Nevis at 1,343m; England - Scafell Pike at 978m; Wales - Snowdon at 1,085m). BMF have successfully managed ten 3 Peaks Challenges over the past few years, and our September event was out most exciting and most challenging one yet. The weather was horrendous with gail force winds and storm warnings for most of the Challenge, but everyone pulled together and all teams completed the Challenge.

"I'd like to thank everyone at BMF again for making the challenge so much fun. I'm truly impressed with the organisation, the event ran like clock work despite all the adversaries.'' James F

"It was cold, wet and knackering - we loved it. Team 5 couldn't have asked for a better group of people to do the challenge with, we started and finished as a team. Couldn't have asked for a better team leader either!'' - Sam & Susie

"I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you SO much for an amazing 3 peaks challenge weekend! I had a brilliant time and I was really privileged to be put in a group of great people, led by a great ML, Stu, who managed to be laid back while at the same time very much in charge and who we knew we could count on should things get a bit tricky. I was really impressed at the level of organization, the good humor and grace and the fact that you all managed to feed 100 people so well without even looking as though you were trying.'' - Sayula

Jurassic Coastal Walk - August 08

This year we headed to the Jurassic Coast for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Members from around the UK travelled down by train to spend the weekend camping along some of the most stunning coastline in the England. During the day the rain held out, and it poured down in the evenings. The bad evening weather didn't stop the social evenings and drinks though. The walks each day were an easy challenge along a picturesque coastline, staying in a different camp each night along the route. Everyone had a fantastic time, and camping trips will definitely be on the calendar again for 2009.

'Well done for organising the Walk it was really very good. The leader with Riki were quite frankly superb... Very keen to do it again, great crowd.' - Rod, Hyde Park

'The weekend was fantastic!! We've had a really great time. Thank you.' - Jana, Hyde Park

Isle of Wight Weekend - May 08

40 members headed over to the Isle of wight on the 2nd bank holiday weekend in May. It was a great social weekend, tied in with different activities including walks, mountain biking, an assault course and a great game of Beach Cricket. We were so lucky with the weather, and each night we sat around the camp fire, had a few drinks and a BBQ dinner. A really great location, and really great people!

The camp itself is based in Fort Bouldner and is an ex-military battery with basic dormitory style accommodation. The facilities are quite 'simple' but comfy and had everything we needed! There is definitely a military 'feel' around the camp.  Keep a look out for our Isle of Wight bank weekend trip in 2009...

'Thank you so much. How fabulous! You were all fabulous and I had a marvelous time. Have to admit to being exhausted for a while afterwards.... But what a great way to spend a weekend.' Rachel, Hyde Park

'Thank you for organising such a great weekend. The walking/ biking/ BBQ/ beers and assault course were the perfect combination for one of my favourite weekends!' Susie, Battersea
