Timberland conquer the Three Peaks

We caught up with one of the members of the Timberland team after the three peaks challengeÂ…

We were blessed with wonderful late summer sunshine, ever so rare in the UK particularly when you consider the event is held on the West coast of Scotland, the Lake District in England and the depths of North Wales. First picture to share is an energised team riding high on the buzz of getting on top Ben Nevis, the highest peak across all of the UK. Here is the team in full flightÂ…

Second picture - last 5 minutes of sunset, mid way up Scafell Pike, Lake District, England.

Snowdon, our final fling on the challenge was set in the midst of darkness which makes for a completely new challenge, you simply have to trust the guy in front of you to pick out the right line through the boulders and loose rock. Just under two hours after setting off at Snowdon and with clock at 5.20 am we celebrated together, and with some pride wrapped the Timberland tree around the final peak.

Getting back to our base camp became the toughest challenge of the 24 hours, (we hadn't realised quite how tough coming down was versus going up) but testament to the team we stuck together and willed each other down to what was a monumental double sugared coffee.... we were missing the Scottish whisky!

The event was very well organised by BMF and they did a great job in terms of getting us in the right place to complete the 3 peaks. Their approach was serious enough for all to understand the importance of following the mountain leader's instructions but at the same time made the event light hearted to enjoy the experience. If we were to do the challenge again we would definitely do it with BMF.

The real important piece was delivering on our sponsorship commitment, no mean feat however large the company you work within, so it is with genuine thanks for all contributions that have flown in over the past few weeks. Fund raising for Traid reached in excess of our £6000 target and we appreciate all those that have taken the time to click through to the website and make what is an immensely worthy donation.

Kindest regards

The 3 Peak 2009 Team
