Alastair served in the Royal Military Police (Army) where he was a PTI and has been a BMF instructor since July 2009. Apart from being an instructor he is a former amateur boxer and marathon runner, In his spare time Alastair enjoys fitness endurance events, studying foreign languages and eating pies - but mindful of giving good nutritional advice to his members, he does add that they need to add an extra workout to their training schedule if they want to follow his pie eating example. Alastair also holds an ABA boxing coach licence.
