Manchester mother loses four and a half stone* and finds new lease of life

A few years ago, Manchester mother of four Clare Lyons was overweight, unhealthy and depressed. Following her son’s diagnosis with a brain tumour in 2007, Clare turned to food for comfort and was soon tipping the scales at 15 stone. Diagnosed with depression and fed up with her weight, Clare decided enough was enough. Embarking on a healthy eating plan, Clare also started running and attending BMF sessions in Heaton Park, Manchester. These days, with her son now in remission, Clare, 43, says she is in the best shape of her life, having lost an incredible four and a half stone, something she credits to BMF classes and her new healthy lifestyle.

Birkenhead man tells of incredible recovery from brain injury through BMF

When Chris Deeny left a friend’s party back in November 2014 he had no idea that his walk home would change his life forever. The father of one from Moreton, Wirral was last seen leaving the party at 4am and wasn’t found until the next morning by a dog walker, who found him unconscious and lifeless. Rushed to Arrowe Park hospital, doctors diagnosed the MOT tester with a life threatening Sub-Dural haematoma and put him in an induced coma for the next 24 hours. 18 months on from his severe brain injury however, Chris has made a full recovery and is back at BMF classes, crediting the classes for aiding his recovery and allowing him to run his first marathon since the injury in June 2015.

Mother of autistic child tells of how fitness has been her salvation

A mother of three from Buckinghamshire, whose eldest son was born with severe autism, has shared her story of the pressures she faced and how fitness has helped her to cope with the stress that comes with raising a child with autism. 45-year-old Lucinda Marsden began training with BMF in her local park five years ago and says getting fitter has allowed her to be far better equipped to cope with the sheer physical exhaustion at home.

In it together: London couple shift 8.5 stone* through BMF

Back in 2013, Emily Hill and her husband Chris O’Brien were feeling unfit and unmotivated. While the couple, originally from Melbourne, Australia, had been fit and active when they were younger, over the years weight from holidays and a lack of exercise had crept on, and before they knew it, the pair tipped the scales at a combined weight of 32.5 stone. Sick of the monotony of the gym and determined to find a type of exercise that suited them both, the pair decided to try BMF classes after spotting the group training at Clapham Common. Since starting the popular outdoor fitness classes, Emily and Chris have completely overhauled their lifestyle, and have lost an incredible 8.5 stone between them.

In 2011, despite leading an active life, Tony was suffering from angina – chest pains often associated with coronary heart disease. His daughters, concerned for his health, convinced him to attend a session with BMF.

Senior Fitizens! Surrey over 60s have never felt fitter

Staying in shape is never easy, and when you get older, the challenge can become even more difficult. But two over 60s from Surrey are proving that age is simply a number as they train with BMF in their local park. Former Financial Services Manager, Ian Harrison, 71, from Camberley in Surrey and former British Airways Engineer Stewart Kettle, 67, from Windlesham both regularly train at Frimley Lodge Park and say that since joining BMF they have never felt fitter.

Merseyside father loses six stone* after being too overweight for theme park ride

In 2012, whilst on holiday in Florida, 44 year-old Brendan Thomas visited Universal Studios with his family. But when he attempted to go on the new Harry Potter ride, Brendan was unable to ride due to his weight. This proved to be the tipping point for him, and his embarrassment at being unable to go on the ride motivated him to make a change and join BMF at his local park in Birkenhead. Since joining, Brendan, from the Wirral, has dropped from 23 stone to 17 stone, and has since returned to Florida feeling much healthier and no longer restricted by his weight.

Sheffield mother gets new lease of life after dropping three and a half stone* following break-up

In January 2014, 38-year old Carol Speight had just become a single mother-of three after separating from her long-term partner of seven years. Carol, from Sheffield, admits she was at her lowest, feeling unhappy, overweight and overworked, so when a friend recommended her to join a bootcamp, she jumped at the chance for something to take her mind off it all. Carol discovered BMF in her local park and has since lost a remarkable three and a half stone and found a whole new lease of life.
